THE FIRST

Dong Wha Pharm was established as the first-ever Korean pharmaceutical company in 1897. Whal Myung Su, the matrix of Whal Myung, was the nation’s first pharmaceutical product created by converging Western medical technology with the secret medical formulas of the royal court of the Joseon Dynasty. Dong Wha Pharm holds four records in the Guinness Book of World Records-the oldest Korean manufacturing company; the oldest Korean pharmaceutical company; the oldest registered trademark, Buchaepyo; and the oldest registered product, Whal Myung Su.

ART AWARD AND EXHIBITION ‘SUMMER SAENG-SAEK’

Dong Wha Pharm. and GHASONG Foundation exhibited the beauty of Jeopson(folding fan) through the exhibition of 50 veteran and rising artists. In that context, GHASONG Art Award, which began in 2012, exhibits art works made with fan motive or by collaborating with a fan master. It was established to freshen the meaning of the traditional culture with the theme of Jeopson and support the contemporary visual artists. By introducing the works of rising artists who reinterpret the meaning and aesthetics of traditional fan with new techniques, we intend to expand the expression technique of contemporary art and to establish a forum for the exchange across the past and present.
